The "Contour to Value Portrait" was a project to focus on the different tones. I do feel that I have partly completed this project, because I have showed the different tones, as well as the highlights and shadows, although I could have blended in the different colours a little more, so it would look more natural. I used broken contour lines for the whole drawing. I incorporated classmates drawings of facial features by picking one out from a box, I got a nose, it was a very well drawn nose. I did not find it challenging because I did not get a double of a nose or a mouth. I was partially successful in using warm colours and cool colours, because as I said before I could have blended the colours in more. The warm colours and cool colours really showed where the light was coming from. The purpose of it was to not just have one solid colour. To have different colours that creates an effect as if someone was shining a light in a certain direction. I had success with creating value with the Prisma colours, and layer different colours on top and seeing what effect that created. I personally did not enjoy using this medium, because I prefer old fashion, no colour, and even if I did add colour I would use water colours. Overall in the project I found the lighting of the hair was successful, and the features on the face were well blended in with the rest of the face. I could improve on thinking about what colours I could use that would really work well with the other colours, and see how it effects the lights and darks of the drawing. In the future I would like to work on blending the colours together to create more of an outcome for the highlights and the shadows.
