Who are you? This seems like a very easy and straight-forward questions, but when was the last time you really tried to articulate an answer? Take some time to ponder and write about all the aspects of your “self.” Think about where you come from, who your family is, and what is most important to you. Use adjectives to describe yourself, or describe all of the roles you play or have played in your life. Think about the stories that you build about yourself – the mythology you have constructed.
I am a girl who is from England specifically Grenache, London. I moved to Canada when I was 1, so I did't pick up any English accent. I would describe myself as a funny, weird(but in a good way), and cheerful. My family is my life. My parents are from around the world. They are from England, and South Africa. The most important thing to me is being happy, as well as everyone around me is happy. When I see someone sad who I know, I have to go and cheer them up, other wise I start to worry about them. If you were to ask someone at school who I was, and how they would describe me. They would probably say that I am a girl who is funny and a little weird.
Writing Prompt #2: PIVOTAL PEOPLE
iWho in your life has influenced you strongly? This may be in a positive or negative way. Think and write about those people who have had a significant impact in your life and may have been responsible for the direction of your life path. Think about how old you were, how these people affected you, the obstacles that you faced and the way your life has changed. Recognize those that have had a profound effect on you. Who were they? What did they say to you? What do they represent?
To start with my parents are a big influence in my life, and I am grateful, that they have made a good and solid influence on me, and my decisions as a young adult. I am an only child, so I don't have any siblings that would influence me in any way. As I said before my parents influence me in a great way. Other people have influenced me throughout my life. Some of my teachers, grandparents who are far far away but still have a strong influence. My friend Anais who I just met last summer is a strong influence in my life. I have cousins who I used to go to Bermuda every summer, and we would have the best time. Me Morgan, and Lily, and those memories are what really have a strong impact on my life. And they will be in my memories for ever. Memories I believe are the biggest influence on everybody's life, because they come back in dreams, or just come back when thinking about it. But a lot go people throughout my life so far have made a good influence on me. My family is very open to a lots of ideas, and I love them for that. They are supportive with what ever decision I choose. I can't say specifically how old I was when these people had influence on my life. But right now I feel like they are there right now right beside ready to catch me if I fall. Some people that I thought I have been friends with in the past has changed my point of view. And the word that describes the whole movement of friends is trust. I have had a few friends who have betrayed me in a way where my point of view of trust towards them has shifted and in some cases shifted so much that I no longer talk to them. The people that have influenced my life positively always say words of wisdom, and always say something that make me think, and make me change my point of view towards something specific. There are some people who have said something where it hurts, but karma never gets them. There either unstable, or they just want to make them feel good about them self because I am not so academically inclined. Anyways I love all the people who have had a influence on my life, because without them I wouldn't be the person I am today.
Writing Prompt #3: ROADS TAKEN AND NOT TAKEN
What have been the important decisions in your life? We have all grown, evolved and changed. At times the movement of our lives has changed direction because of the choices we have made, and at other times it has changed because of the choices that others have made. … They are the roads that we have taken and the roads that we have not taken. What have been your stepping stones? What have been the significant moments of change and growth in your life? What have these shifts meant for you and the direction of your life? What have been the opportunities you have pursued – the roads taken? What have been your missed opportunities – the roads not taken?
The important decisions in my life that I have made are really what marks my personality. I have made decisions that turn into mistakes, and I have made decisions where they have turned into something great. If I hadn't made that many mistakes or that many good decisions, I wouldn't be where I am today, and that is very important. Everybody makes mistakes, no ones perfect, and if you make a mistake it's just a little bump in the road, it's not anything serious, unless the situation is serious. If nobody made mistakes then no one would learn from what they have done so they know not to do it again. There are punishments, and throughout the years, the punishments have gotten less brutal. For example in school before 2000 teachers would have canes, and wipes that they would use on students to punish them for what they have done, so they don't do it again. But now a days punishments are either warnings, or sitting in detention doing homework which really isn't that bad. Especially doing that compared to scraping gum off underneath the desks. I have grown up because of the mistakes I have made. And it annoys me when you make a mistake, and everybody judges you, but when they make a mistake they get praised for it. I know I'm probably gonna make a mistake in the future from spelling mistakes to big mistakes. A mistake can always turn into something great. I have had those a few times in my life. I would say I have missed opportunities that have been presented right to me. In the future for sure I am going find every opportunity there is so I can make a impact on someone else's life. Sometimes you just have to say "what the heck, just do it", and don't it let anything get in your way.
Writing Prompt #4: PERSONAL MYTHOLOGIES
What are the stories that you have told yourself over and over again even if they are not true? A myth is a legendary or imaginary narrative that presents our beliefs, and a mythology is a collection of those stories. We have all created myths about ourselves – stories that are imaginary or unverifiable. We have puffed ourselves up with stories of accomplishment and torn ourselves down with stories of lack. We have self-talk, scripts and dialogues running through our heads, reinforcing those myths. Question your own mythology, and see if you can verify the myths. What are your personal myths? What is your personal mythology? What are your stories? Why do you believe them, accept them and perpetuate them?
I have told many stories to myself throughout my life time, and those are stories that create self motivation. I tell myself stories about the bright side of things when I see the dark side of things or believe that I am in the dark side of things. I don't have myths but I have ideas or stories that play over and over again in my head, until I have the courage to actually do it in real life. For example if someone is rude, I will play a scenario that I believe will help my situation, and when I do have the courage to reenact my scenario in my mind, I feel a sense of relief to get some of the bad energy out. I have negatively thinking scenarios in my mind, and I have positively thinking scenarios in my mind. Thats only a fraction of it. Most of the time I imagine a mythology of my dream house in the future, including all of the details, as well as, and the designs and the cups and plates, and the garden with a blue sky and a patio with bright coloured chairs as well as huge installations. This imaginary house that I think about all of the time relaxes me. I believe my scenarios and imaginary thoughts because if I can see them, then I believe that I can accomplish them. If I can't imagine something then that can't be true. It's all about the imagination of your mind and how creative it is. Anything you think of can be true just with a little creativity and as well as hard work.
