This panning assignment was hard to do because it was hard to focus on the moving object and make the background blurry.

These photos represent the difference between a cliche photo and more detailed and different view kind of photo. The cliche photo shows a typical picture of a piano. The one on the right shows a different aspect of a piano and shows more details of the keys on the piano, and it also shows a slight reflection on the piano.
The genre of photography that I was given was Street Photography with the inspiration of Fred Herzog. Fred Herzog is a photographer who captures images of buildings, objects, or scenes, so when 20 years from then someone will look at that picture and be amazed to what the building looked like, or the object or just the scenes from the past. The process for me to take this photo was difficult, but fun. In order for me to capture this image, I had to take many pictures before that. I found one good image out of those 42 images. This captures Collingwood school, because it shows the building, and part of the field, and the environment around that. People can look at this image 10-20 years from now, and see what Collingwood looked like in the past.
The process of taking these 2 photos was fairly easy, but at the same time a little bit difficult because it was hard to get the exact same angle for both of the photos.
These snapshots were blurry and not well taken just because they were just six quick photos. These were meant to be blurry. So we could get a sense of what snapshots were compared to photos that had a lot more attention.
These pictures all have something in common. My summer was all about meeting new friends as well as hanging out with my friends. If I were to put all of those words into one word, I would chose friendship. The first four photos, are pictures of my new friends that I met at art camp, and other pictures of my friends who I have known for a long time, and some friends who left to go back home. The Last two don't seem like they relate. When you look at the second last picture you see me standing in front of wall with a pattern on it, with a rainbow texture in the background. At that moment in time, I was talking to my friends asking them about what there story behind this piece of art was. The last picture represents friendship, because as you know Tom and Jerry are best buddies, who do everything together, but at the same time hate each other.
1. Comment on 3 elements of design you see in this photo(1)
3 elements of design I see in this photo are form, space, and colour. Form is shown in this photo because the tragedy is framed by the trees. The next element of design is space, and that has two parts. The foreground and the background. The foreground represents the people having a good time, although the background is showing a tragedy. The last element is colour, and that is represented by the sky. Half is dark and cloudy from the smoke, and the other half is sunny and blue skys. 2. What is Frank Rich’s take on what is happening in the photo? Do you agree with his analysis? Explain(2) Frank rich believed that what was happening in the photo was that there were happy people in the foreground and a tragedy in the background. This shows that people just move on no matter what tragedy is happening. I agree with his analysis because it is true, the picture doesn’t show how sad that day was. On the other hand the people who were in the picture didn’t show there reaction because the way the photo was taken was viewed as happy people, when really they were shocked at the sight. 3. Walter Sipser, one of people in the photo, argues that he was misrepresented by the photo. In your opinion, is it important that we, the viewer, understand the whole story before we properly view and criticize a photograph? Explain.(2) I agree that it is important to not judge a book by its cover, and to uncover the real meaning behind it, otherwise people will get the wrong message out of it. Walter Sipser one of the people in the picture has a point because he wasn’t asked permission to take the photo so his expression was not prepared to be shown and viewed as a happy expression on such a tragic day. 4. Why is this photo is considered to be one of the most artistic photos taken of the 9/11 tragedy. Do you agree that it is a brilliant photograph? Explain in a short paragraph response. this answer is worth 5 marks. (5) This photo is one of the most artistic photos taken of the 9/11 tragedy because it shows that life just keeps going no matter if there is a highjacked airline that has crashed into the twin towers. This image relates to historical paintings such as the “Fall of Icarus” which was painted by Pieter Bruegel. The painting shows a peasant who is continuing on with their fields as someone is drowning in the background. Historical paintings come back. The tragedy of 9/11 jogged not just citizens of New York but the world’s memory of how life just keeps going on no matter what is in the background. I agree that this photo is brilliant, because it shows the constance of life, but the distance of death. |
